How It Works

  • Four nights during the year, 100 Women Who Care Flagstaff County will give $10,000 or more to a local charity, non-proof, right here in Flagstaff County. It’s fast, simple, and amazingly effective. By the end of the year, after our 4 meetings, we will have donated over $40,000 to our local organizations. Now that is a true impact!
  • To join 100+ Women Who Care Flagstaff County, please complete the Membership Commitment and Registration Form found here.
  • Payment expectations: Payment (cheque or e-transfer) must be made in full ($400) at time of registration or $100 prior to each meeting to receive a voting ballot. There is also a TEAM option available, groups of two to five women are invited to come together and attend the meeting, but will be allowed only one vote. YOUTH memberships are also available for young women under 18. Their cost is $25 per meeting.
  • Organizations are only nominated by members in good standing and the organizations chosen to present to our meeting will be chosen randomly by “in the pail” method.
  • Each of the organizations that were selected 1 month prior to the meeting will be given 5 minutes to make a presentation at the next meeting. This presentation must be made by a representative of the organization. There will be a question and answer opportunity for members after the presentations.
  •  If you are unable to attend a meeting, your committed payment must still be forwarded. You will have the opportunity to proxy vote.
  • The organization must agree NOT to share membership information for solicitation.
  • The winning organization that was selected to receive the donation must wait for 24-months before being considered again. If an organization presented but was not awarded the donation, they have the opportunity to have their nomination resubmitted for the next meeting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are a few frequently asked questions. Please review, and if you have any further questions, please email us at 100womenflagstaff@gmail.com or chat with us at our next meeting.

When do I have to submit payment?

**Payment of either $100 or the total $400 must be received 2 weeks before any meeting date. This is to ensure the proper amount of money is in the 100 Women chequing account to cover the cheque written to the winning nomination. Also, membership fee must be paid in order to nominate and also to vote.

How is an organization eligible for consideration?

An organization can only be considered at a meeting if it meets the following criteria:

  • It is locally based (Flagstaff County) and has been in existence for 1 year.

How does an organization get nominated and chosen?

Any member in good standing can submit a nomination form (available on this website.) This form must be completed and forwarded one month prior to meeting dates to ensure the organization is eligible. All forms received will be placed into a ballot box and the appropriate number will be pulled.

Once the organizations pulled have been vetted and agree to our terms, then they will begin working on their presentation.

Members will not find out who they’re voting for until the night of the event where they vote for their organization of choice via secret ballot.

How often can an organization be nominated or win?

An organization can be nominated at each meeting. Once an organization has won it cannot be nominated to win again for 24 months. If an organization was submitted but did not win, they are eligible to be re-nominated for the next meeting.

Can National and International organizations be considered for nominations?

Only organizations who have a local chapter can be considered. During our vetting process, we work with the organization to determine whether the local chapter’s use of funds will meet our nomination qualifications.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. All organizations receiving the donation will send each member a receipt, some will be eligible for tax receipts with a charitable number, others will not.

Does any of my donation go to the 100 Women Who Care Flagstaff County administrative costs?

No; 100% of your donation goes to the charity awarded that evening! 100 Women Who Care Flagstaff County, is organized and operated strictly by volunteers. If you’d like to be a sponsor, please contact us at 100womenflagstaff@gmail.com .

What if I cannot attend a meeting?

No worries and no judgment here! Sometimes things come up and we are all busy women. You can allow a proxy vote on your behalf by sending written permission for another member to vote for you or sending permission by email to 100womenflagstaff@gmail.com. We also have a texting option to one of our ambassadors, this information will be shared by email and on our Facebook page before the meeting. This option is not available when we have online meetings.

Can I send the donation directly to the winning organization myself?

Unfortunately, no. The 100 Women Who Care Flagstaff County committee needs to be able to track the continued membership commitments of our members. So we need to keep track of the donations. And more importantly, the idea is to create an impact and we do this with the donation being the full $10,000+.

What if I need to resign my membership?

Resignations will be accepted through email/written communication to 100womenflagstaff@gmail.com. We simply ask that if you are going to resign, please inform us prior to the meeting so that we do not include you in our communications and so that we are aware approximately how much money we will collect on behalf of the charity chosen at the meeting.

What is a member of good standing?

A member of good standing is a registered member who ensures that their payment to the organization has been made on a timely basis.

What can I do if I want to nominate a organization but don’t like public speaking?

Not to worry. You don’t actually have to speak. The organization is responsible for their own 5-minute presentation.

What do you do with my personal information?

It is strictly to maintain a membership roster, to communicate with you, and to assist the winning organizations with receipts. We will not share your information in any other way.
